Ashley was awarded for her academic performance of a 3.75 GPA during her first semester of college at East Carolina University in 2017.

In 2022, Ashley received the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Auxiliary Scholarship in recognition of excelling academically as a student whose parent was lost in the line of duty as a NC Highway Patrol officer.
In 2020, Ashley’s first rhetorical essay, “When Minds become Land Mines,” was published in Hindsight, formerly known as Journal2020, a collective publication opportunity for students at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
“When Minds Become Land Mines,” addresses the nature of mental health struggles present in college students and young adolescents and voices a need for support in such a dynamic period of students’ lives.
